The Clua Family

Our little family struggled with infertility and loss for years and after the loss of our daughter Penelope in September of 2020. We just couldn’t bare go through any more loss. God had a plan.

In January of 2021, I was given the news that little Tommy will soon come into this world. The months went by and our miracle, Thomas, was born at just 4lb 14oz and 17 inches in length with eyes that looked a little extra special. At three days old, we made the trip to Birmingham to see an Ophthalmologist at the Children’s Hospital. Thomas was diagnosed with Congenital Glaucoma.

We quickly started him on pressure eye drops. At just one week old, he had his first surgery, although not successful. He went on at 8 weeks to have his second surgery. Then again at 5 months of age, he had his first Shunt implant. Since then has been progressing well but more surgeries are in his future.

Thomas’ eye pressure needs to be checked at least weekly to make sure everything is under control so if anything is off we can act quickly. With the help of the Always Endure, we have been blessed with the medical equipment needed to check his eye pressure more frequently at home. We also have the ability to communicate the information to his doctor to better know what steps to take.

We want to thank Always Endure for being part of our little village and helping us give Thomas the best chance in fighting his life long battle against Congenital Glaucoma.
