The 12th Annual Slawburger Chase 5k is coming up soon on Saturday, April 18, 2026!! This family friendly event is for all fitness levels, from seasoned distance runners to walkers.
For this year's race, we are going back to our roots! Our first few races consisted of courses that provided some intentional challenges because we wanted runners and walkers to experience the ups and downs, the joys and hardships, that those we serve experience as they navigate their adoption process, major medical treatment plan, and foster care journey.
With this in mind, we are moving the 12th Annual Slawburger Chase 5k to a brand new location - Lincoln County High School's cross country course! This is a course that can be completed by all fitness levels. The course also provides several challenges - elevation and terrain variations - that mimic the journey of those our mission supports.
The course is primarily grass but does include a short stretch of paved asphalt. Directional arrows signs and volunteers will be scattered throughout the course to help guide you along the two loops course - each loop being slightly different from each other. We will also have water stations on the course and at the finish area.
The proceeds from this event will help Always Endure fulfill its nonprofit mission: For the glory of God, Always Endure exists to remove financial barriers for adoptive families, barriers to care for patients enduring major medical diagnoses, and barriers to placement for children in foster care.
One of the beneficiaries from the event will be local teenager, Hannah Joy Davis, who has been enduring treatment for Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma of the liver, a very rare form of liver cancer that mainly affects teenage girls, since 2023. Her father, Bro. Kevin Davis, is the pastor of Prospect Baptist Church in Lincoln County. As of October 2025, an abscess was found in her abdomen, which required surgery and another hospital stay. Since then, she has been taking a different chemotherapy medication. The hope is that this medication will stop the growth of the tumors while she and her family wait for a clinical trial to open.
Chip timing will be used for this race. We will have overall, masters, and age group awards for the 5k course.
Thanks to Ken’s Fast Foods, every participate will receive one of their Famous Slawburgers once they cross the finish line!!
Once you finish our race, we encourage you to head on over to Fayetteville’s courthouse square to enjoy the annual Slawburger Festival!
